Takeaways and Tactics
1. Content is King. Give a lot of free information that will keep your customers and prospective customer interested in your product. Apply the 80/20 rule. 80% in your site should be free content and 20% should be selling. You need to give first before you can take. So, give really good information because custom content is best in building positive relationships. They build your brand, trust and your loyalty.
2. Take advantage of free tools that are effective in advertising like Youtube.
3. Internet users spend 51% of their time browsing on their mobile device vs 42% on desktop. So they are actually spending more time on their phone.

Show Highlights
02:07 Today, we are talking about the top 7 ideas for internet marketing for 2016 and if you do these 7 things, they’re gonna work great for you. There are a lot of things you can do to grow your business and there are a lot of things you can apply in to your business, however, these are the top 7 things and these are the things that are going to matter more than anything else. So, if you’re doing those things, I think you are going to get some good results.
02:40 It is important to remember that sometimes you are getting a misconception of people who work in the internet that they are the people who do this stuff, they say that they just sit in a coffee shop so they don’t really work. I was looking in to my working hours and I think I am working 60 to 70 hours a week. It doesn’t feel that way, but I know, I do work during the day, some on the evenings, and I work on the weekends, but maybe I have some show or music going at the same time. So, maybe that doesn’t seem like working, and that’s where it is really cool. That it doesn’t seem like work.
3:10 So, the point that I want to make is if you’ve got to work, you’ve got to put in time. This stuff takes time. Anybody who’s got involved in anything about marketing, you could get involved in a project that you think it’s gonna take you 10 minutes, and 4 hours have passed and you’ve been working on this project. So, it does take time.
3:30 It is the way to make money now, being on the internet, selling your products or services, whatever you have… it doesn’t matter whether it is a restaurant or a hair salon or if you are teaching a motivational…it doesn’t really matter, but you’ve got to be on the internet.
3:43 And you don’t want to be sitting back years from now and people will say, “wow! You were around during that big hit internet thing …whatever it is…to make all that money and you didn't get involved, you didn't do anything?”
3:56 So it is really important that you take advantage of it while it is out there for you because if you don’t, you’re gonna be missing out.
4:04 So, let’s talk about the top 7 things. The things that if you apply this things you’ll going to get better results and the number 1 thing I’ll be telling you about is “Content”
4:18 Content remains King! Content is King. Content basically is when you’re supplying information to your potential customers or your current customers and they get something good about it and an example would be if you have a beauty salon what could you do? Well and example is if you have a website, you could be posting different hair styles, a different styles that are popular, different styles that are popular in a media or with movie stars and on how you could do those hair styles. If you have a restaurant, maybe you could be posting recipes about types of meals and educate your consumers.
5:07 You’re gonna supply this information where... it could be in a form of blogs or in a form of lists. So many things you could do out there to promote your business. But, basically, you need to give to your consumer before you ask.
5:20 Give before you take. And you wanna give them some really good information. 90% of customers find custom content useful and 78% believes that companies with custom content are interested in building positive relationships. So that’s what you want to do. You want to build some content out there. You’ve got to give on those blogs…those type of things.
5:46 It also helps you build your brand, trust, your loyalty. If you want to accomplish something you’ve got to have content, you can no longer have a website where you have a whole bunch of products that sells and nothing else there because people won’t go. They don’t need to. They’ll go to sites that have a lot of information and of course we all heard of the 80/20 rule that applies in so many parts of our lives. But, basically the 80/20 rule applies to content because 80% of what you do should be free content. And 20% should be selling. So keep that in mind when you’re sending emails.
6:40 Next thing is Marketing animation. In 2016, there are so many places that you can post to and to post on all these areas is really difficult. But, there are a lot of tools out there now that if you do one post, you can put it in 10 different areas when you need to do so. You may want to get some of these tools you’ve got like Twitter, Facebook, your blogs and you've got Instagram, and all these different things and you could use something like Hootsuite, something I would like to recommend. In Hootsuite, you can upload all your social media platforms. And with one button, you could post to all those places at the same time. You can schedule it all in there. So, if you want to schedule a month’s worth of post, you want to take a vacation or whatever you can schedule in them there and they will fire off at the right dates and right places. All you’ve got to do is schedule them in there. So Marketing animation is number two.
7:38 Number 3 sounds pretty cool, I’ve kind of been watching this and it is virtual reality. It’s kind of getting its way to marketing and sales now. So, there are all kinds of 3d things now and gaming (I am not a gamer person) but virtual reality in which you could do at home and what you could do to simulate different things whether you’ll be driving cars or airplanes or whatever it is, maybe simulate your product, that’s a pretty cool thing. You may want to search in the internet, we all have google and just type in “virtual reality”
8:15 Number 4 is Video. What? Yeah you are watching it right now, Video is so very important because you can reach that person one on one. If you’re not using video, you want to do it, and if you notice, videos are all over the places and they are not just in Facebook, they are in Youtube channels…get one of those…these things are free…This is free stuff so that’s pretty cool. You can use snap chat, you can use periscope, of course they’ve got Facebook live now, you got Youtube live, take advantage of that. Youtube claims that their audience has reached more US adults of between 18 – 34 years old than any other cable network. So they’ve got a bigger reached than any cable network now - YouTube does! And YouTube, don’t forget is the second largest search engine in the world. Make sure you’re getting some video content out there. If you don’t want to do it, you don’t feel comfortable…not everyone does feel comfortable to get on camera…hire somebody to do it. Get somebody to do it for you. Get a face for your company…that works too.
9:29 The next thing I want to talk about, number 5 is Mobile. You got to think mobile now. If your website is not responsive, when I say responsive, it does not change the format when people are looking in their mobile phone. Internet users spend 51% of their time browsing on their mobile vs 42% on desktop. So they are actually spending more time on their phone.
10:05 That’s where people are. If you’re not on their mobile, if you are not there for them, you’re missing them. That’s a pretty easy thing to fix and they also say that 75% of all Americans have a smart phone now. 75%...I mean… you got to be there, right? That’s something you got to do. 38% of people in the US only use mobile. They don’t use a computer anymore. Computers will be there. I don’t think they are going away or anything, but if they are consuming most of their content on mobile, you certainly want to be there. That’s truly important.
10:52 Next is remarketing to your targeted audience. What I mean about remarketing is maybe you ran an ad and on that ad you may send them to a blog post - we do that - and when they go to that particular blog post and they look at that blog post that you have, then they are gonna become pixeled, what does that mean? It throws them into a custom audience, you could do this with Facebook, you could do it now with Google. What we’re going to do with these retargeted audiences, we know they’ve already been to a blog post and they are interested with whatever the subject is so if somebody goes to one of our blog post about storing survival food, we’re going to retargeted those people and by retargeting those people, they are going to actually see our ads. So, those are just the only people who will see our ads.
12:09 Retargeting is really huge because now you’ll only get to the people who want to see your product. Gone are the days, you drive down the interstate and you’ll see billboards. Billboards are not so huge anymore and it is a whole lot cheaper now.
12:55 And last on my list now is, this is really pretty cool because Google is allowing it too, you can upload your data files and manage your customer match audience in Google. What does that mean? If you have a list of emails, you could actually go to Google now and upload the whole list of emails and put ads in there and just target those people. So that people will see ads that are already on your list. And you already build all that good will and brand with them, so why not target them. And Google lets you do that now, Facebook always lets you do that so if you don’t know about that you could upload your email list to your Facebook account, your ads manager account and go ahead and target them. So that’s pretty cool.
13:38 So we’ve got 7 things to do but here’s the deal, you’ve got to do them. If you don’t do them, that’s where I see over and over again, people know these things and they just don’t do anything. And the key is not to let you know…I mean a lot of people knows a lot of stuff…there’s a lot of stuff other people know more than I do that’s for certain…but it’s the people that do something with what they know that make money.
14:02 It’s not what you know, it’s what you do that really counts. So check yourself, if you do them every single day and how much you spend time doing these things. Are you really working on them, are you applying them or you’re just learning more and more. Learning is fine; there are professional students out there. They know tons of stuff. Knowing is not doing, you've got to do something.
